This is Brubeck at his best, exhibiting his unique sense of tone color, often in a very peaceful affect. Will take some work to learn these (although advanced pianists could sight read a few of the songs), but the arrangements are just -- neat!
Perhaps "Silent Night" should have "George Shearing Was Here" written somewhere on the page. . . that's meant as a sincere compliment!

Intermediate level arrangements in Brickman's individual style. Very effective, but the rhythm is tricky. My advice is to buy this collection only if you already listen to a lot of Brickman, as the notation of dotted 8th followed by a 16th tied to a 16th followed by an 8th. . . is sooo much easier if you listen to how it's done, instead of figuring it out via music notation.
(BTW - always break down confusing complex rhythmic patterns into the smallest note value, and count the meter using the smallest value e.g., 16ths. It's slow going as you crawl along through the measure, but it's the only way to know for sure what you're doing. Once you get comfortable with how a phrase sounds, speed up with each repetition, and switch back to counting eighths or quarters asap). Sorry, as a teacher, I couldn't resist the soap box. . .

Highly recommended, this is one of the best soft-jazz collections in print, thanks to the contemporary arrangers Phil Della Penna, Preston Keys, Noreen Grey Lienhard, and Alan Simon.
OK... one little problem that I'm certain will be cleared up before I even realize it: "What Child Is This" is listed in the contents as on page 28, it is actually on page 2. Curious little oversight I'll bet caused a little touch of Christmas red in someone's cheeks!
