If you know someone at the upper intermediate level that loves these songs, there is no better source in print. Arrangements are good enough, that even a club pianist could use these professionally.
Title should be " Country Ballads" or something more catchy, since " Favorite Country" doesn't cover it. Arrangements are by Tom Roed, who is without question one of the best arrangers for intermediate/advanced piano.

37 movie themes from 37 films, for intermediate (and upper) piano solo. There is a biography and highlighted list of works for each of the 17 composers represented. For a movie buff that also happens to be a good pianist, this collection would be a lot of fun. The arrangements -- as typical in a collection -- will be better than the first run piano/vocal sheets.

There are about 100 pages of right hand runs in this book, each run presented in three keys. Standard runs, swing, blues, bebop, "modern", jazz, you name it -- it's in here. The CD has at-tempo and a slowed version of each run, as well as a piece demonstrating many of the runs utilized in a composition by the author, Noreen Grey Lienhard. For anyone that "plays by ear" a lot, this is one neat collection, and would be very much appreciated! |

I have a stack of arrangements of the famous "Rhapsody in Blue," and they are all very poor. Sorry, but in my opinion, they are. . .
This is the entire Gershwin Rhapsody made accessible for the intermediate level pianist. Arranged by Wasserman, it's the only version approved by Ira Gershwin, after he put a stop to all the simplistic arrangements that were being cranked out by various publishers back in the late 1930's.
Although listed as Intermediate, this arrangement is so accurate that it will cause even advanced pianists some difficulties.
If you know a fairly good pianist that loves this great work, get him/her this edition rather than the original listed next.

Originally intended for piano solo, the Rhapsody In Blue was never completely finished (for piano) before being revamped for Jazz Ensemble and performed at Aeolian Hall in 1924. The immense popularity of the work obliged George Gershwin to go back and complete the Rhapsody for solo piano. This is it! -- Very difficult, for advanced pianists only.

This very large collection is also listed on our Jazz Piano page. But, it's such a great, comprehensive source for standards arranged by past jazz masters, I thought I'd add it here as well.
Overall, the level is quite advanced, so consider this only for someone with years of playing under their belt, classical or jazz.
